What ChatGPT does

ChatGPT is OpenAI's general AI assistant. It is free to download and use, it does far more than coaching, and its App Store listing names talking through a tough situation among the things it is for. It has a voice mode for real-time conversation.
What Forvel does
Forvel is built around one plan. You talk a week through with the coach and pick one thing to do or stop, kept on a card in your own words. You hold a ring each time you do it, and a week is kept when it reaches your target; a missed day never takes a rep away. Once you agree, the coach reads your last two weeks, your moods, the urges you rode out and how the plan changed, so you don't have to explain them. It asks more than it tells and quotes your own words back.

When ChatGPT is the better pick
When you want it free, when you want one assistant for everything rather than a coach for one thing, or when you would rather shape the coaching yourself. If you go that way, ask it to hold one plan with you for the week, check in at the same time each day, and ask what got in the way when you miss.
